Dressing for the Interview

Here's a quick look at the basics (courtesy of JobSearch.com):

Women's Interview Attire

** Solid color, conservative suit
** Coordinated blouse
** Moderate shoes
** Limited jewelry
** Neat, professional hairstyle
** Tan or light hosiery
** Sparse make-up and perfume
** Manicured nails
** Portfolio or briefcase

Men's Interview Attire

** Solid color, conservative suit
** White, long-sleeve shirt
** Conservative tie
** Dark socks, professional shoes
** Very limited jewelry
** Neat, professional hairstyle
** Go easy on the aftershave
** Neatly trimmed nails
** Portfolio or briefcase
With all that being said, although it is appropriate in many instances to dress formally for an interview, it is not always recommended depending on the company and position. To be sure, contact the company and ask the person who set up the interview about the proper attire for their interview process.
